You didn’t mention the Richardson, was that from Shearers? I had to google it back in the day as I had never of heard of them. The ”effects” criticism was always just lazy journalism by whoever said it, the effects add another layer of texture to mega riffs. I don’t think you were pushing back against anything, probably just making the music that you’d want to listen to, music that excited you (and the rest of us).
