The internet has dramatically changed the way we discover music. Some are content listening to the radio, or digging through old record shops, while others are using the various streaming services. We all know somebody who turns music discovery into an art form. This week’s guest on Music and More, Mike Mobley, is definitely that guy. This week we discuss the secret art of music discovery and hear how Mike initially discovered The Music and introduced them to our very own Pete Flecha.
On the podcast this week Adam and Pete talk to a very exciting new artist. Ellur has has made her presence felt with incredible songs and live streams over the last 12 months. It is no surprise this has led to her signing a record deal. The drive and determination she is showing to create authentic songs and achieve her goals is an example to any artist. Having had many guests on so far, it is fascinating to have someone on that is obviously at the start of an incredible journey.
It has been said, you never really know the true impact you have on others around you. While this is true for all of us, it was definitely the case for this week’s guest, Dana Miller. While the Music were recording their 2nd album, they were unaware there was an avid fan, complete with glitter and wings, searching the streets of Atlanta in hopes of a chance encounter. This week on the Music and More Podcast, Dana explains how her discovery of The Music as an unknown opening act was pure happenstance, but helped shape the person she would eventually become. Dana, now a freelance writer, is a wicked wordsmith, giggling provocateuse, and mega-melomaniac who still has her glitter, wings and appreciation for her boys from Leeds.
There’s an old cliche that you have a lifetime to make your first album and only a few months to make your second. This was certainly the case for The Music. After the success of the debut album, the lads found themselves on a 3 year world tour, shuttling from airport to hotel, recording radio-station idents across the American midwest and explaining to interviewers from Boston to Bangkok exactly how they came up with the band name. As exhausting as that sounds, imagine finally getting to take a break and then being told you have to leave home and go to America to record your second album. In this episode of Music and More, Adam shares his experiences recording the 2nd album Welcome to the North in the heart of the south, and the reality of Difficult Second Album Syndrome.

Behind any great band is a community of fans that enjoy sharing memories, concert artefacts or just gathering as a group with similar musical taste. Since the early 2000s there have been several chat rooms, Facebook/twitter/Instagram pages, and websites, all dedicated to The Music. Not least of which is a new site, themusicbootlegs.com by Mathew Watson. This week on the Music and More Podcast Adam and Pete welcome Matt to discuss the site, his extensive collection of memorabilia, and the fantastic community behind The Music.
